Nevertheless, even in a distant African country, compatriots and Russian-speaking residents of the post-Soviet space managed to settle. The reader Vladimir Biryuk told Lente.ru about his life in this African state. The story told turned out to be confusing and emotional, full of desire to prove that the country is worthy of attention. “I was born in the BSSR, in the town of Slonim, I am 63 years old. I came to Ghana to do business, which in the end did not go. But I found a wife! Now this is my second homeland - my village, my street, my land, my ocean ... Although in fact I have two foreign citizenships - Belgian and Ghanaian. I have visited many places, I like the tundra near Urengoy, and the desert mountains of Yemen, and the Canary Islands. But nowhere are there more positive people than in Ghana. I want to dispel negative myths about Africa, ”Vladimir begins his story. The Republic of Ghana is a state in West Africa. Vladimir has been married to a resident of Ghana for 15 years, the couple is raising a five-year-old daughter. He also has a son from his first marriage. “My son has been flying around Africa with the UN for many years, he does not have such a rosy attitude towards Africans as I have: he sees a lot of grief - wars, UN camps. In general, all wars in Africa are where there are large resources - oil, gold, diamonds, rare earth metals. The conflicts were provoked from outside Africa, these are not internal African problems, ”says the Belarusian. As Russia cannot be understood with the mind, so the black continent cannot be approached with eurology, says Vladimir. But there are aspects in the local society that are understandable and familiar. “Classic family relationships in Africa are very important, talk on the BBC about all these gay marriages is listened to with disgust. Relatives are sacred: if you have risen, business has gone up, you need to help your relatives, and it is unlikely that the money will be returned. I have a sincere, respectful relationship with my wife's family. If you treat yourself without arrogance, you will be your own, though drop it (white foreigner), ”says Biryuk. Widespread non-binding and laziness, according to Vladimir, is a key feature of Africa. “There is a motto like the Russian“ right now ... ”, only reinforced many times over. Once we agreed with a relative to help my mother-in-law build a gazebo. We agreed the next day at 2 pm, I hoped that he would come at least before 6 pm, when it was getting dark, but I didn't guess: he came two days later and innocently offered to help when everything was done, ”Vladimir recalls. Another feature of both Africans and whites, who have lived in Africa for a long time, is working with laziness - slowly, slowly. “He himself suffered from this, relaxation from the heat and physical work are incompatible,” he admits. Women in Ghana feel free everywhere except in the Muslim north. “Violence and humiliation of a woman is very rare, it is incompatible with tradition. Women often have their own businesses and their incomes are much higher than men, ”says Vladimir. The attitude towards children in the country is reverent: “I have not seen homeless, hungry, street children in Ghana. Here relatives will take away orphaned or abandoned children. As, for example, my mother-in-law took away her disabled grandson. The ex-daughter-in-law did not give the child a polio vaccine, and he fell ill. After a divorce, former husbands and wives often stay with their mothers-in-law or father-in-law with their mother-in-law. " Any white person is a rich man for the locals, which, according to Vladimir, is partly true: those who come here on vacation are really not poor (air travel from Europe is quite expensive).
